INTERVENTIONS BY STAFF REPRESENTATIVES AT THE CURRENT SESSION OF THE GA

Dear Colleagues, Staff representatives met in New York from November 1-4 to agree common positions on key issues being tabled by the Secretary General at the ongoing session of the General Assembly, and to discuss strategies for lobbying Member States. We made two key interventions at the GA as follows: Common System Issues (Pension Fund crisis, conditions of service for security services, the negative impact of the compensation review, and separation payments for staff with fixed term contracts). The statement can be found here. It can be watched at 24.30 here: http://webtv.un.org/watch/fifth-committee-8th-meeting-71st-general-assembly/5187380089001 Human Resources Matters (removal of G to P exam, limiting rehiring of retirees, implementation of the mobility policy, General Ability Tests, the Global Service Delivery Model, flexible workspace, whistle blower protection, and staff- management relations).
